The amount of learning and work it takes to become a social worker is ridiculous. No wonder so many don’t go into the work force after they complete the degree. 3years doing a did which is extremely intensive then a years assessed practice then P.I.P

The missing link here is the non-mentioned cultural and traditions of people. For instance, an Igbo family have extraordinary pride in their children’s success and discipline. Social workers should be trained to examine families and their with a holistically approach before concluding their informed decision-making. Most parents has developed mental health issues due to the attitude of some social workers who took away their children. Abuse of any child cannot and will and should not be tolerated by any society. However, the lack of cultural inputs are very inimical to the very foundation of raising good family. In conclusion, I advocating for an inclusion of cultural and traditional approach in the new course of actions. Let us ask ourselves this pertinent questions. Why are the children who grew up in a poor impoverished African nations tend to do well and successful when they come to this country than their counterparts who were born and raised up here? Let us reflect and rethink.

This does not take into account the absence of training in Child Development. The development of Language and physical development, conceptual awareness, and age appropriate social interaction are all essential knowledge for carrying out assessments with children and families.
