In my career as as a Social Worker I was successful in securing a place on a two year in-house post-qualifying course related to the Safeguarding of children. This was generally for one day per week at a college, obviously with assignments. I enquired of my management about a reduction of my caseload to allow me to take full advantage of the course and regarding my professional development for the benefit of the children and families I was working with and, indeed for the benefit of the Local Authority I was then working for.
