Undermining the independent regulator as a precursor to making social work the only profession directly regulated by government.
Front line social workers (as opposed to Frontline social workers) are already demonised and subject to sanction that all too rarely extends up the food chain to senior management. When culpability for poor services lies with management and their political masters social work will need independent professional regulation.

I fear successive neoliberal blue, red, blue/orange and blue governments have been gradually converting social welfare (equalising in favour of the poor) into social warfare (promoting greater inequalities).
